Loving Roots Genealogy
Loving Roots Genealogy is the result of an itch scratched.
The initial itch was a growing curiosity about my own family's murky history. So I thought I'd spend one afternoon of online research to get some quick answers. Instead, the people who came pouring out of the past – and the stories they brought with them – had me hooked.
There was my Great-Great-Great-Great Granduncle who paddled down the Ohio River in a two-person canoe to settle one family line in Indiana. There was my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather who pulled up deep roots around Coniscliffe, England, to sail to the New World with his young family in tow. There was my German-born Great-Great Grandfather who was wounded at the Battle of Stones River during the American Civil War, fighting for a country not yet his own.

The Rise of Loving Roots
I was struck by all the ancestors who pushed through crowded neighborhoods, language barriers, and financial hardships to perpetuate the family line. I knew I had to memorialize their efforts in a proper way – something beyond the traditional hangman-type line drawing of a one-dimensional ancestry chart. I wanted to illuminate their lives with more color, give them the reverence they deserved. So I decided to create a book. And then I created another one, and one after that, and then more for other families who felt the need to scratch the same itch.

My early curiosity has now grown into a steady, research‑driven practice. I’ve spent years learning how to work through historical records, trace migrations, spot patterns, and piece together the kinds of details that turn a family tree into a story worth telling.

I started Loving Roots Genealogy to share my sense of wonder and appreciation for those who came before us. If you’re ready to explore your family’s roots, I’d love to help. You might be surprised by what – and who – we find.
